KI - A User Friendly Manual
Working with Minimum KI
Journal Entry: Click the book icon and start typing.
Take a Picture: Just click the bright, top, button. The picture is actually a screen shot.
Working with Full View KI:
Above is the KI when it is in full view.
Active Players: This list will still be there after you minimize your KI but will fade after a period of time. You can adjust this time in the options menu. It will appear again whenever you maximimize the KI view, or whenever someone is talking. It list all the players you can chat with. You can chat with any of the players in the same Age as you. You can also chat with your neighbours (fellow members of your home Bevin) and buddies whenever they are on line no matter where they might be at the time. To chat, just start typing and hit Enter when done. To chat privately to a specific person, click on their name before you press enter. Players with the angled brackets around their names (ex: >PhaedraX<) are close enough to be talked to using voice chat. You need a microphone to do this, but then all you do is hold the Tab button to talk. Age Menu: With Age Menu selected, all the Ages you have visited are will appear down the left hand column. Click on an Age name and any journal entries or pictures you have made in that Age will be listed on the right. Click on an item to view it. To delete an item, press the square with the dot in the middle (it's a D'ni zero actually). Warning: deletes cannot be undone.
Transferring and Sending Items: You can transfer items (text entries or pictures) to other Ages. Simply view the item, then click on the triangle beside the Age you want to transfer it to. You can also send them to other players. When you select a player, the player name will appear in the active window. Just click the triangle beside the active window. When the triangle disappears, the item has been sent. A tone and a flashing KI icon will inform the other player they have just received something.
Uploading Items to a Viewer: You can upload items to the left viewer in your home Bevin, or the viewer in your Relto once you find the appropriate Relto Page. Walk up to the viewer and the blue KI symbol at the bottom of the viewer should glow briefly. Maximize your KI and you should find that D'ni Imager is now under the list of active players. Click on it to put it in the active window, then click the triangle to upload. The viewers only hold about half a dozen items. Anymore, and the older ones will be replaced. Once an item is on the viewer, it can't be deleted without replacing it with something else, but, if it is a text item, you can change the text in the original entry on your KI, upload again, and the changes will appear on the viewer.
Player Menu: Click the player menu icon to list players you have encountered. Buddies have to be added by you, I'll get to that in a second. Neighbors are all the players that are members of your home Bevin. Recent are any players that were on the Age Players list recently, even if you didn't chat or interact with them.
Adding Buddies: Players can be added to your buddy list in two ways. The easiest way is if this player appears on any of the other lists. Simply click on their name to put them in the active window, then click on the triangle next to Buddies. When the triangle disappears, they are on your buddy list. The other way is to open you buddy list and click "add buddy" at the top of the list. If the player is in the same age as you, you can type in their name (though it would be easier to just select them from the Age Player or Recent lists). You can also add a player using their KI Number, which is really useful when that player is not on any of your other lists - of course, you need to know their KI number to do this.
Players, can be added to your ignore list in the same way.
Sending Private Messages and Images You can send a private message or image to any player on any of your lists, even when they are not on line, by putting that player into the active window, opening what it is you want to send, and then clicking the white triangle next to their name.
Sending Invitations to Your Ages You can send an invitation to one of your Ages in much the same way, even if the player is not on line. Put the player into the active window, then scroll down to the bottom of the player menu. There will be the name of your home Bevin and any personal Ages. Click on the triangle next to the Age you want to invite the player to and the invitation will be sent. The player will receive a message in their incoming box stating who sent the invitation and the Age the invitation is to, as well as instructions to go to the Nexus and select Private Links to visit the Age. Note: The one private Age, that I know of, you cannot send out invitations to is D'ni Reezero.
Options Menu: Here you can change the size of the font in the full view KI, as well as the length of time the active player list stays up for. You can also take a look at a few stats associated with your neighbourhood.
